Listybitsy vs Shopify Magic

Magic writes Shopify copy. Listybitsy writes listings everywhere.

Shopify Magic is a built-in AI writer for Shopify product descriptions. It works from a typed title and keywords, not a photo, and it doesn't know Etsy's tag rules or eBay's item specifics. Listybitsy turns one photo into SEO-scored listings for Etsy, Shopify, and eBay — and can publish all three with one click.

5 reasons Shopify Magic isn't enough for cross-platform sellers

Magic is a solid free tool — for one platform. These are the gaps that show up the moment you sell on two.

01

Magic can't see your product — you have to describe it

Shopify Magic generates a description from a product title and a handful of keywords you type in, not from a photo. If you can write a good enough keyword list, you're already doing most of the work yourself. Listybitsy reads your product photo directly and writes the full listing from that.

02

Magic doesn't know Etsy's 13-tag system

Shopify Magic only writes Shopify copy — it has no concept of Etsy's 13-tag limit, the 20-character-per-tag rule, or eBay's item specifics. If you sell on more than one platform, you're manually rebuilding tags and reformatting the listing for every other channel yourself.

03

One tool, one platform — cross-listing is still manual

Magic lives inside Shopify admin and writes for Shopify only. Sellers who also list on Etsy or eBay have to copy the description out, rewrite the title to fit each platform's character limits, and build tags from scratch for every other marketplace. Listybitsy generates all three from one photo, formatted for each platform's rules.

04

No SEO score, just a label

Shopify Magic markets its output as "SEO-optimized," but it doesn't give you a measurable score or tell you what's weak. Listybitsy scores every listing 0–100 with line-level flags, so you can see exactly what to fix instead of taking the label on faith.

05

Writing is free. Publishing to Etsy or eBay from Magic isn't possible

Magic saves time on copy inside your Shopify store, but it was never built to publish anywhere else. Getting that same product live on Etsy and eBay still means manually creating each listing on those platforms from scratch. Listybitsy's Pro plan publishes directly to Etsy, Shopify, and eBay with one click.

Frequently asked questions

Does Shopify Magic write listings for Etsy or eBay too?

No. Shopify Magic is built into Shopify admin and only generates Shopify product descriptions. If you also sell on Etsy or eBay, you'd need to copy that description out and manually rewrite it — tags, title length, and field formatting are different on every platform.

Can Shopify Magic read my product photos?

No. Magic takes a product title and a few keywords you type in — it doesn't analyze the photo. Listybitsy reads the photo directly and generates the title, description, tags, and meta fields from that image.

Is Shopify Magic free?

Magic itself is included at no extra cost, but only on a paid Shopify plan (Shopify's Basic plan starts at $39/month). Listybitsy has a free tier — 10 listings per month — that works whether you sell on Etsy, Shopify, eBay, or all three, and doesn't require a Shopify subscription at all.

Do I still need Shopify Magic if I use Listybitsy?

No. Listybitsy generates a complete Shopify-ready description and meta fields directly, so a separate Magic step isn't necessary. If you're Shopify-only and just want quick description copy, Magic is a reasonable free option. Listybitsy is built for sellers who cross-list to multiple platforms and want an SEO score plus one-click publish across all of them.
